Letnitsa Treasure (4th century B.C.)
It was unearthed in 1963 in the town of Letnitsa, 36 km northeast of Lovech.
It consists of an iron horse rein (of a Thracian type) and silver applications, placed on the trappings of the headstall, the reins, the breast trap, the saddle and the horse mane. Patterns from Greek and Thracian mythology intermingle in the elaborately ornamented depictions and diverse scenes on the applications. The treasure presents the art of the Thracians in the so-called animalistic style.
